I have just had the most wonderful visit to Yorkshire as everyone knows it deserves the phrase “It’s Gods Own Country”
I really enjoyed my workshop with the Portland Nurseries teams of Early Years Practitioners. There was so much laughter and fun alongside thoughtful reflections and questionings.
I then went off to meet Ian and Hilary Read and Emma Wayper – Head and Deputy of the amazing Watercliffe Meadow Primary School. My soul was completely uplifted by the venue they chose – the Weston Restaurant in the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. You almost feel like you are in a tree house as there is glass all around you, rolling hills and waves of autumnal trees going off into the distance. When you’re in beauty it is so much easier to think. We had a fantastic meeting looking at how to build on the 14 years of working together in their school that received my Gold Award many years ago. We hatched some great plans!!
My wonderful friends Sarah and Phil from Huddersfield put me up and ferried me around – always with unconditional enthusiasm, bless them. It almost feels like I am coming full circle when I meet up with Sarah. I worked with her in the 70s in a community care centre where she was a Community Psychiatric Nurse and she and I have set up some therapy groups to support vulnerable people in transition – GPs used to refer patients to us. It was a huge learning time for both of us but we so valued each other’s skills, insights, different ways of working… and humour and the years that we shared have been the best bedrock of a friendship ever!

Huge thank you to Portland Nurseries for inviting Jenny and for the wonderful testimonial received:
2024 Portland Nurseries – Practitioner Day
“Jenny was truly engaging from the start to finish of her wellbeing training workshop and the delivery and content was tailored beautifully for our early years practitioners autumn training day, which proved to be immensely fun and relatable for all our staff team.
We had tremendous fun and learning opportunities throughout the morning as Jenny captivated the staff with her wealth of experience & knowledge, offering a wide variety of strategies, games, tools to enable staff to use on a daily basis for improved communication within their teams, clients and also on a personal level whilst encouraging motivation, self-care and personal acceptance of doing a good job. Staff loved the punchy one word vocabulary that they could use to represent feelings, behaviour management and to explore and appreciate their own golden moments. We are very much looking forward to trying these out in our work place and using the games and puppets inventively into our everyday practise with the children.”
