Written by Vicki Johnson, once a very hardworking headteacher, this book is incredibly practical and accessible. Let’s face it, if “THE” Pie Corbett can take the time to read it and pronounce it “THE assembly book”… there is no greater accolade!

I stumbled across this when I just couldn’t summon up any more creative thoughts. Its just the job and I am already using the ideas – the feedback has been very positive.

Circle Time –
As a busy head teacher I often worry about finding the time to plan good assemblies. However, because this is the only time I get the whole school in one place I believeI owe it to the chidlren and poor staff who have to listen to provide an assembly that involves everyone and gives them all something to think about. Last year I chose some stories from the Active Assemblies book 2 as well as drawing on some old favourites that I have learnt over the years. This new book written by Vicky Johnson is brilliant! If you are new to assemblies it gives some great advice on what a good assembly should consist of and then a whole range of assemblies that will suit all ages from 4 -11. This book will save me loads of time on a Sunday morning and that is something all headteachers would welcome!

This is THE assembly book. Review By Pie Corbett
This is an extremely handy book – easy to use, comes complete with texts to read aloud and would be invaluable to anyone who is in the firing line for putting on an assembly. There are 36 assemblies described and each one hinges around a key theme such as friendship, truth and confidence building. These are ideal as they address and
develop social, emotional attitudes to learning and life. Every school should have one.
