By Jenny Mosley and Helen Sonnet
It’s all very well having a parachute but do you know what to do with it? This 80-page handbook is based on Jenny and Helen’s extensive experience of developing parachute games. It is suitable for schools, youth groups, social services and health departments. This book will teach you how to get started with a parachute, develop active and reflective games, and end a session calmly. If you find that after a couple of activities you are struggling for ideas, this wonderful collection of games is precisely what you need to get the most out of your parachute. Parachute games are an exciting way to develop children’s self confidence, team building and co-operation skills, and emotional literacy. In addition, they are incredible fun!
‘Making Waves’ is an essential resource for the creative and meaningful use of parachute games. “…a wonderful way to have fun and build teams – store this book in the bag with the ‘chute’!”

We bought this book to go with a parachute we bought for a kids project last summer. The book ensures we get the max value from the parachute. We have used the book a couple of times now and it is excellent. The parachute and book make for great outdoor (or in door) activities for primary aged kids and acts as an easy to put together plan B if a planned session or session presenter doesn’t turn up.
Arrived quickly too.
very happy

I bought this book for my daughter who runs a home education group in Northamptonshire. She has found it extremely useful and all the children in age ranges 4-12yrs have enjoyed the games. It is promoting a lot of team building and self esteem which is important to the smooth running of the group.

I bought this for group games and it’s got a great selection, with easy explanations. The calming down games are very useful too!

Making waves offers a wide selection of parachute games to develop group co-operation and listening and communication skills. These are organised into ‘tent games,’ ‘active games’, and games using ‘language and song.’ There is a particularly useful section at the end of the book of ‘calming and ending games’ that bring any exciting and vigorous parachute session to an ordered and relaxed conclusion. Play is an invaluable medium for learning and the innovative and imaginative use of play in circle time demonstrated in this book can only be of benefit to any who use them. The games can be used in small or whole group settings, and can be lead by teachers or assistants alike. These games were also used successfully by children with severe learning difficulties… the book is a treasure trove of wonderful ideas. Special Children
