I was delighted to be invited to write an article for the very informative Headteacher Update online publication for March 2022 on: “Promoting Playground Play and Social Skills”. I can’t remember a time when this has been a more important focus for schools. We have heard anecdotally from so many different settings about the struggles that children are having with relatively simple concepts like playing co-operatively, turn-taking, communication and just generally having good, simple fun without conflicts in each others’ company.
This article gives some key pointers for reflection upon play and playgrounds and how they can best work for the children in your school. I am also offering free Playground Games and Wet Playtimes booklets to download from the article – so do hop on over to Headteacher Update to get these!
One of the key areas of the article and of my work is the support and empowerment of Midday Supervisors to help create successful lunchtimes and playtimes. Providing practical, accessible resources such as pocket books of playground games, activities and top tips and offering good quality training – either online or face to face – helps enormously to move the lunchtimes team forward.
So, do enjoy the article CLICK HERE FOR ARTICLE and download the free resources. If you are interested in other playground resources do browse our shop www.circle-time.co.uk/shop and email circletime@jennymosley.co.uk to enquire about training.
