Sheffield COVID Recovery Festival (September 2020) What a Lovely Event to Be Involved In
At a time when we all need to pull together more than ever before, what a brilliant idea from Learn Sheffield.
A whole Sheffield COVID Recovery Festival throughout September to support all the recovery work being carried out across Sheffield. Everything is held online and available for all participating schools and recorded for others to access afterwards.
The festival covers really key areas from leadership to singing and music. I was delighted to be offered the chance to speak at the festival on Zoom on ‘The role of listening and empathy in COVID Recovery’, chaired by Ian Read from Watercliffe Meadow School. I have done a lot of training and work with a number of Sheffield schools and was really pleased to be able to offer continuing suggestions to help with adult and child wellbeing and to release excellent listening and empathy at this time. If you would like to watch my presentation – do click below (warning – it is about an hour long!).
I went through how to keep your mind clear and look after yourself first in order to have the energy and empathy to look after the children in your care. I gave people a lot of practical tips.
There were various teachers able to log on during the session but the vast majority will be watching a video of the session so that it fits in with their work. A big thank you to Stephen Betts for co-ordinating the whole Festival and initiating the whole Zoom session and to Ian Read for chairing. We look forward to hearing how the rest of this important festival goes throughout September – but having the videos available will mean that people will be watching and listening into the future. Thank you to everyone involved.
